Under the supervision of a firefighter/engineer, the firefighter/ EMT intern will respond to emergency and non-emergency fire and medical calls in the protection of life and property; operates and maintains vehicles, apparatus, equipment, stations and communication systems; participates in public demonstrations and performs a variety of other duties as required.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
Must possess a valid California driver’s license.
Must possess a fire academy completion certificate.
Must possess a valid State of California EMT/First Responder license certification(within 2 months after start date)
Must possess a Health Care Provider CPR certificate/card consistent with AHA.

Hiring is done twice a year in January and July
We will work around your class schedule if you will be attending school (max of 6 units or 2 days a week of classes)
Will be signed off on your Firefighter I certificate after completing 6 months
College units can be acquired for doing the internship ( up to 6 units or 2 days a week)
All classes hosted by WFD will be free of charge during internship
